VIP Expedition “Great Patagonia: Ice, Rocks, and Wildlife”
Route: Argentina (El Calafate, El Chaltén) → Chile (Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine, Punta Arenas) → Argentina (El Calafate)
Duration: 7 days / 6 nights
Difficulty: Easy
This journey is designed for those who want to see Patagonia in all its grandeur. You will experience famous granite peaks, the thunder of collapsing glaciers, encounters with native inhabitants of the степpe and ocean, and true safari-style trekking in search of one of the most graceful predators on the planet — the puma.
The expedition is conducted in comfortable transport. All transfers are carried out in TOYOTA LAND CRUISER (SW4). You will see the country not from an airplane window, but through tinted glass, stopping wherever your soul asks for photos. The need for a 4×4 is due to rapidly changing weather, sudden snow, and roads often closed to non-all-wheel-drive vehicles.
Day 1: Arrival in Patagonia and meeting the glacier
Location: El Calafate (Argentina) — Perito Moreno Glacier
Your adventure begins at El Calafate airport. We will meet you and immediately head to Argentina’s main gem — the Perito Moreno Glacier. This is one of the few glaciers in the world that continues to advance. You will walk along a network of viewing walkways to see the 60-meter ice wall from different angles and hear the deafening roar of ice chunks crashing into the water. For the most adventurous, there is an optional mini-trek on the glacier with crampons.
Transfer: El Calafate Airport — Hotel.
Activity: Walk along glacier walkways.
Night: Hotel in El Calafate.
Day 2: Trekking capital and introduction to Fitz Roy
Location: Transfer to El Chaltén (Argentina) — Laguna Capri
In the morning, we take a scenic drive (about 3 hours) to the town of El Chaltén, located at the foot of the Fitz Roy massif. This place is called the trekking capital of Patagonia. After check-in and a light lunch, we will take an acclimatization hike to Laguna Capri. This is a short but beautiful trek offering the first stunning views of the needle-like peaks of Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy reflected in turquoise waters.
Transfer: El Calafate → El Chaltén.
Trekking: Laguna Capri (about 3 hours).
Night: 3* hotel (2 nights).
Day 3: Legendary Laguna de Los Tres
Location: El Chaltén (Los Glaciares National Park)
This day is the highlight for all hikers. We set off on the classic route to Laguna de Los Tres. The trail winds through beech forests and moraines before reaching the final steep ascent. The reward is an incredible view of Mount Fitz Roy towering above the emerald lake. You will see the iconic perspective featured on thousands of postcards and inspiring travelers from all over the world. Lunch is a picnic with a view of the summit.
Trekking: 20–25 km, 8–9 hours.
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch.
Night: 3* hotel.
Day 4: Crossing into Chile and safari preparation
Location: El Chaltén — Puerto Natales (Chile)
In the morning, you will have time for a relaxed breakfast, after which we head toward the Chilean border. We cross scenic Patagonian steppes and arrive in Puerto Natales — a colorful port town on the shore of the Última Esperanza fjord. This is the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park. In the evening, we will hold a briefing dedicated to the next day’s puma tracking and check photography equipment readiness.
Transfer: El Chaltén → Puerto Natales (5–6 hours with border crossing).
Night: 3* hotel in Puerto Natales (2 nights).
Day 5: In the kingdom of the puma (Torres del Paine)
Location: Torres del Paine National Park (Chile)
Departure before dawn to catch sunrise and the peak activity hours of predators. Accompanied by a professional biologist guide and experienced trackers, we set out in search of the puma. We will explore the park by 4×4 and take short walks, observing guanacos — the main prey of pumas. If lucky, you will witness unique moments of wildlife. In addition to pumas, the park will greet you with the famous “Towers” (Torres), horn-shaped peaks (Cuernos), and azure lakes. Between searches — observation of Andean condors and Patagonian foxes.
Activity: Puma tracking (up to 8–9 hours).
Meals: Breakfast (early lunch box), field snacks.
Night: 3* hotel in Puerto Natales.
Day 6: Penguins, sea lions, and the Strait of Magellan
Location: Punta Arenas — Magdalena and Marta Islands
Early transfer to Punta Arenas — one of the largest cities on the Patagonian coast. From here we set off on a sea cruise. By speedboat, we cross the Strait of Magellan and land on Magdalena Island, home to a colony of over 60,000 Magellanic penguins. You will be able to walk just a few meters from these amusing birds. Then we visit Marta Island to see huge Patagonian sea lions and many seabirds: cormorants, kelp gulls. In the waters of the strait, we will watch for whales (humpback or sei) and dolphins.
Activity: Sea excursion 5–6 hours + island landings.
Night: 3* hotel in Punta Arenas.
Day 7: Farewell to Patagonia
Location: Punta Arenas (Chile) — El Calafate (Argentina) — departure
Enjoy a final breakfast with a view of the strait, shopping for souvenirs, or a walk along the Punta Arenas waterfront, from where expeditions once departed for Antarctica. Return transfer by car to El Calafate airport (Argentina). Flight to Buenos Aires.
Important to know: The comfortable season for the expedition is December–May; at other times the tour is available, but winter trekking equipment is required for safety.
P.S. Want to extend the magic of adventure?
Patagonia is only part of amazing South America. To make your impressions truly grand, we recommend combining this tour with our week-long journey through Brazil. You will see how the cold grandeur of the Andes contrasts with the hot passion of the tropics.
Imagine: just a week after meeting pumas and glaciers, you will find yourself in a completely different world. Just one flight — and you are no longer in the windy степpe, but in the jungles of the Pantanal, watching jaguars and caimans. Then — the roar of Iguazu Falls, more powerful than any in the world. And the finale — samba rhythms on the beaches of Rio and the futuristic skyscrapers of São Paulo.
All logistics are already arranged. Both tours are operated by our team, so you don’t need to worry about connections. Contact us to book both at once!
Two weeks — two universes. Allow yourself to discover South America in full!
